It is now well perceived fact that development of rural village is key for the success of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a significant proportion of inhabited world comprises of rural area. And with the technological advancements, it is now imperative to utilize such technology for the purpose of incorporating smart features and services for planning and real-time decision-making. This combination of rural village, sustainability, and emerging technology has led to the emergence of sustainable smart village, which offers a new dimension for making progress on realizing the SDGs in rural communities. However, while defining a sustainable smart village (SSV), villages are assumed to be a homogeneous rural area. The consideration of rural heterogeneity and rural morphology in planning of the village development is often ignored. This ignorance in addressing heterogeneity of rural settlements and providing one-fit-all-solution (to extremely remote areas, moderately remote areas, and peri-urban areas) may not produce the desired effect. Additionally, the impact of blockchain on sustainability outcomes is immense and especially in SSV is almost unavoidable. So, the present study is an attempt to explore the rural heterogeneity, rural morphological dynamics, and applicability of blockchain as digital enabler for long-term effectiveness and sustainability. Beyond identifying the said relationships, this article proposes a blockchain-based rural heterogeneity management model for SSV for the purpose of individualized private and group-based public data sharing.

摘要
