Role of High-Volume Fly Ash in Self-compacting Concrete—An Experimental Study
摘要
Cement is the major binding material for the production of concrete. But cement manufacturing leads to the emission of greenhouse gases which are harmful to environment which is a hindrance to sustainability. As a solution, a part of cement used in concrete shall be replaced by fly ash which is pozzolanic materials. To enhance the strength properties and durability characteristics of concrete without compromising the performance, the need for development and use of self-compacting concrete (SCC) is felt. Strength, durability, elimination of vibration, segregation, and bleeding, all these factors point to the necessity of SCC. This proposal can play a vital role in meeting the huge demand for infrastructure of developing countries like India. SCC with high-volume fly ash reduces the cost of production of concrete to a greater extent.
