This action research focuses on the cultural sustainability of Austronesian peoples, who are small in number and tend to be easily influenced by the times and mainstream culture. The Talugan Cultural Relics Museum of the Bunun tribe serves as a case study focused on establishing the contextual meaning of the Talugan’s cultural relics from the perspective of authenticity based on the ethnography written by Chia-ch’in Ch’iu in 1966. In 2021, 146 museum items and 14 exclusions were listed and applications were made to hold physical and small-scale online special exhibitions from September to the end of December 2022. It is believed that some items in the collection are from the priest class. Due to the changing social structure and the erosion of many traditional beliefs, most items have lost their context and are difficult to maintain; it is suggested that a digital rather physical museum may offer an effective way to extend the life of such cultural relics.
