Regional Revitalization Through Development of Taiwan’s Yachting Industry: Challenges and Opportunities
摘要
Although Taiwan is a yacht manufacturing center, hardware planning and software management in Taiwan’s leisure yacht industry are in need of improvement. Many of Taiwan’s marinas have been rebuilt from fishing ports and lack international certification. Such a condition fails to meet the needs of international consumers and ignores the potential of local resources. Through a series of interviews with local yacht operators, this study identifies the bottlenecks in the development of Taiwan’s yacht industry. It also examines the methods used in neighboring Japan, South Korea, and Singapore to develop and expand their leisure yacht industries. The principal aim of the study is to enable Taiwan’s marinas to effectively integrate resources into the operation and management process, adapt measures to local conditions, and align with the international community. It is expected to provide guidelines for marina management and governmental participation. Future research should track and monitor the sustainable development of Taiwan’s overall yacht service business and leisure marine activities.
