This chapter explores the challenges and limitations inherent in utilizing Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printing technology within the pharmaceutical industry. FDM 3D printing has emerged as a promising tool for the fabrication of personalized dosage forms, drug delivery systems, and medical devices, offering unique advantages such as customization, rapid prototyping, and precise control over drug release profiles. However, several hurdles impede its widespread adoption and implementation in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
