Environmental Sustainability in 3D Printing of Pharmaceuticals
摘要
The 3D printers are used widely nowadays in pharmaceuticals. It provides eco-friendly business and reduces carbon footprints compared to other methods. 3D printers save energy and reduce the cost and wastage of material. This technology makes extensive use of biodegradable materials, which are broken down by microorganisms in a natural way, minimizing their adverse impact on the environment. The numerous applications of 3D printing in the pharmaceutical science comprise drug release, cost cutting of medicines, and drug efficacy. 3D printing reduced environmental issues such as material wastage, energy use, carbon emissions, manufacturing, and distribution. This chapter highlights 3D printing techniques utilizing a sustainable production and their environmental implications. Furthermore, the chapter investigates the case studies on utilization of 3D printing in pharmaceutical industries.
