The economy is all about the different activities that involve production, consumption, and exchange of goods and services within a given entity like a country or even a small community. However, the concept of circular economy is different from other such concepts as it drives towards the usage of products again and extracts new raw materials rather than throwing them away. By doing so, we can conserve our environment by utilizing natural resources optimally and promoting overall capacity. Today’s goods are tomorrow’s resources and their conservation can be called in a broader term as Sustainability. Production, consumption, and disposal are the converse concepts of the circular economy. In recent times, there has been an urgent need to address environmental problems and promote sustainable food systems. The expanding population and increasing appetite hence made the earth witness a booming food demand; this has noticeably resulted in higher agricultural output. Consequently, to address these issues, food and agriculture have been approached through circular economy principles, thus giving birth to concepts like regenerative farming as well as circular agriculture. This transformative method attempts to change conventional linear agricultural systems into closed-loop ones that emphasize resource preservation, waste decrease, and overall ecosystem well-being. This chapter looks into the circular economy in food and agriculture, their principles, benefits, challenges faced, possibilities, food waste prevention, policies, management, efficient use, and different innovative solutions that can help us prepare for a resilient future in terms of food and agriculture.
