Case Studies in Green Biorefinery Solutions
摘要
This abstract summarizes the successful applications of green biorefinery technologies across various sectors and the lessons learned from real-world projects aimed at transforming biodegradable waste into valuable resources. Case studies highlight initiatives in agriculture and forestry that utilize agricultural residues and forest biomass to produce biofuels and biochemicals. The food and beverage industry showcases food waste valorization through anaerobic digestion, bio-based packaging production, and extraction of high-value compounds from processing byproducts. Municipal solid waste management integrates composting and biogas production to recover energy and nutrients, while industrial symbiosis promotes resource efficiency through collaboration between industries. Urban biorefinery projects convert organic waste from households and businesses into bioenergy and bioplastics, mitigating environmental impacts. Key lessons from these initiatives reveal technological challenges, economic viability, policy and regulatory considerations, stakeholder engagement strategies, and the evaluation of environmental and social impacts, including job creation and community resilience. Global examples from the European Union, North America, the Asia-Pacific region, and Africa and Latin America demonstrate diverse approaches to sustainable bioeconomy development, emphasizing the importance of waste valorization and resource recovery to address local environmental and socioeconomic challenges.
