Internationalization has emerged as a key component of higher education, encouraging international partnerships, cross-cultural dialogue, and raising educational standards. To fulfill the demands of the knowledge-based economy, India, a fast-developing country, recognizes the significance of internationalization and educates its students to become professionals with cross-cultural competence. Recognizing the importance of global collaboration and cross-cultural learning, the Indian government has taken several initiatives to promote exchanging knowledge and ideas with the international community. This chapter aims to reconnoiter the concept of the internationalization of higher education in India and focus on its various aspects. This chapter focuses on the advantages, difficulties, current trends, and processes involved, funding sources, and relationship to the New Education Policy (NEP). This study concluded that a supportive policy framework must be established, institutional autonomy and flexibility must be encouraged, international partnerships and collaborations must be developed, student exchange programs must be developed, the curriculum must be designed with a global perspective must be implemented, and quality assurance mechanisms must be put in place to development the internalization of higher education in India.
