Coworking spaces have evolved into flexible settings that are characteristic of the 21st century and provide different work setups for large groups of professionals. In Davao City, which boasts a tropical climate, coworking spaces face challenges unique to this tropical territory regarding the balancing of natural and artificial lighting. Lighting is an essential element in making a comfortable and productive workspace, especially in spaces intended to nurture collaboration, interaction, and individual work. This is done by maximizing a variety of lighting strategies for effectively tailored usage of spaces within a Coworking environment. Recent investigations on lighting design have concentrated more on coworking and offices located in temperate climates. This study examines the impact of natural and artificial lighting in tropical coworking spaces and gives a comparison of temperate coworking spaces, highlighting how each climate requires tailored lighting strategies. In tropical climates, managing glare, heat, and intense sunlight is critical, while temperate climates emphasize consistent illumination to offset seasonal changes. Key findings underline the importance of maximizing natural light, implementing layered lighting approaches, and using shading or reflective materials in tropical areas. By addressing these climate-specific lighting needs, this research offers insights into designing coworking spaces that enhance comfort and adaptability across diverse environmental contexts, creating versatile and efficient workspaces for users.
