The lymphatic system (Fig. 1) is an essential component of the circulatory and immune systems, comprising a network of lymphatic vessels that permeate nearly all tissues and organs. This system functions primarily to transport lymph, a clear fluid containing white blood cells and waste products, from tissues into the circulatory system, while also serving as a key player in immune surveillance and response. Lymphatic vessels, alongside lymph nodes and organs such as the spleen and thymus, collaborate to filter pathogens, distribute lymphocytes, and maintain fluid homeostasis.
