Digital transformation is the process of adoption and implementation of digital technology by an organization to create new or modify existing products, services, and operations by the means of translating business processes into a digital format. Only about 30% of companies navigate digital transformation successfully and navigating it amid uncertainty is especially difficult. This paper is a review of the state of the art in digital transformation in ergonomics, summarized from a comprehensive keynote lecture. The paper introduces the notion of Digital Transformation, as it applies to the science of Ergonomics. It introduces digital human modelling and Digital Twin in various practice areas in Ergonomics, showing where the Digital Transformation in Ergonomics stands as of today, mentioning potentials and benefits. We provide examples and discusses Digital Transformation from an ergonomic perspective in retail & services, manufacturing, public health, respiratory & cardiovascular health, mobility & biomechanics, and rehabilitation engineering. The Digital Transformation in Ergonomics is far advanced and provides fascinating solutions throughout. Although much of ergonomic design in many practice areas is nowadays achieved in a holistic digital environment, such as the Omniverse or Industrial Metaverse, the resulting product or process however remains a physical property, intended for a physical living human.
