Previous studies have considered infographics design principles, organizational structure of information, and visual information flow, but none have considered the layout structures of infographics, gestalt principle of proximity in infographics design in comprehending information on infographic materials. This research aims to discuss the gap of the effectiveness of design factors of infographic materials, specifically with the placement of the text and visual elements that affect the comprehension of the users. This study investigates how layout structure, and proximity design influences comprehension in static list-type infographics. Through Design of Experiments, the study assessed four layout structures, and two proximity design settings for the infographics. The results showed that the optimal infographic design that generated the highest literal and inferential comprehension score was a linear layout structure with 5 mm proximity.
