Climate change represents a significant threat to public health. Its impact on the activities of healthcare staff has yet to be explored. The objective of the study presented here is to prospectively identify these effects and to assess the degree of awareness of these phenomena in healthcare institutions. It is based on a Delphi approach involving scientific experts and on interviews with managers of Swiss healthcare institutions and public health authorities. The project will result in a typology of these effects, of the contextual factors likely to moderate them, and of the adaptation and mitigation measures that need to be implemented. The initial results are an invitation to ergonomists working in the healthcare sector to take up this theme. Their expertise in activity analysis and in facilitating participatory approaches is a valuable resource for supporting changes in clinical practices and institutional operating methods.
