This paper explored variations in waist dimensions within U.S. military anthropometric data specifically waist heights and waist circumferences. Definition, procedure, and statistics of each variation were reviewed and compared to each other relative to landmarks, and to obesity level represented by body mass index. This study emphasized the significance and characteristics of each variation, as well as the implications of those variations in designing military equipment.
