Examining the Possibility of Expressing Teachers’ Intentions and Enthusiasm in Online Lectures Using Audio Vibration Stimuli
摘要
As online education becomes more widespread, it has been pointed out that it is difficult to convey a teacher’s intentions and enthusiasm to students learning in front of their displays. In this research, we aim to establish a method for transmitting the teacher’s intentions by adding a vibration stimulus linked to the teacher’s voice to lecture videos. In this paper, we measured the eye fixation areas and subjective evaluation of eight graduate student experiment participants while watching lecture videos with added vibrations and extracted the effects of vibration stimulus on students’ physical and psychological states. We also collected ideas for new ways to utilize vibration. The results showed that vibration may be a factor hindering students’ concentration in lectures, but it also became clear that vibrations may increase learners’ motivation for lectures and lead to pleasant feelings.
