In light of rising climate disruptions, rural areas in India increasingly rely on non-agriculture-related livelihood options to sustain year-round stability. However, the rural setting offers complex and intricate challenges, necessitating different strategies. To be relevant, solutions must be tailored around the needs and requirements of rural populations. This study investigates a collaborative method to develop the technical design of manufacturing units for alternate forms of livelihood at the grassroots level. The case of a rural community in Karnataka, South India, is presented. The collaborative process is detailed, a design is proposed, and the inferred learnings are presented for further exploration.

摘要
