Stiffness Evaluation of Recycled Aggregate Concrete Beam Subjected to Torsion
摘要
In the literature, very few studies specifically examine the torsional stiffness of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) as compared to coarse natural aggregate concrete (NAC) beams. Apart from torsional strength, durability, and deformation, the torsional stiffness is also an important parameter to be considered in the design of structural elements. The initial stiffness of RAC beam containing 0%, 50%, and 100% recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) was found 489.17 kN.m2, 437.50 kN.m2, and 303.57 kN.m2 at cracking state. These beams secant stiffness at the ultimate state was found 104.83 kN.m2, 101.56 kN.m2, and 83.33 kN.m2. The secant stiffness of 50% and 100% RAC beams with respect to 0% were found lower by 3.11% and 20.0%, respectively. There was a considerable decrease in the secant stiffness at the ultimate state for 100% RAC beam, which allows the specimens for significant twisting. In conclusion, it appears that the application of RAC in torsional beams has no discernible impact on the degradation of stiffness.
