Concrete is the most used construction material because of its excellent properties, but it is also poor in tensile, flexural and toughness strength. These properties can be improved by adding fibres to concrete, resulting in fibre-reinforced concrete. Meanwhile, many waste materials are utilised to enhance the mechanical properties of concrete for structural applications. In waste material, plastic waste has been growing dramatically worldwide, causing a significant environmental problem. The abundance of plastic bottles used in Australia for spring water and other types of beverages creates huge plastic waste. These bottles can be recycled and reused in the form of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) fibres to enhance the properties of structural concrete. In this research paper, only 42 papers were reviewed to highlight the potential of PET fibre concrete by varying the dimensions and volume fraction (Vf) of fibres. Accordingly, the utilisation of PET fibres in concrete improves compressive, tensile and flexural strength. Further, the use of recycled PET fibres in concrete is essential for sustainable construction as outlined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, by reducing plastic waste to save the environment.

摘要
