This study compared static and dynamic balance abilities among athletes participating in three distinct sport categories: Combat Sports (CS), Contact Sports (COS), and Skill Sports (SS). Sixty athletes (n = 60, age: 19.9 ± 2.2 years, height: 1.65 ± 0.8 m, weight: 61.9 ± 13.2 kg) from university and sports school programs volunteered for this study. Static balance was assessed using the Stork Stand Test (SST) and the Bass Stick Test (BST). Dynamic balance was assessed using the Star Excursion Balance Test (SEBT) and the Johnson Modification Balance Test (JMBT). Participants attended two sessions: one for familiarization with the protocols, and a second for full balance testing. Paired sample t-tests showed no significant differences between Combat Sports and Contact Sports for SST (p = 0.705), BST (p = 0.364), JMBT (p = 0.859), and SEBT (p = 0.362); between Combat Sports and Skill Sports for SST (p = 0.870), BST (p = 0.783), JMBT (p = 0.224), and SEBT (p = 0.236); and between Contact Sports and Skill Sports for SST (p = 0.870), BST (p = 0.241), JMBT (p = 0.248), and SEBT (p = 0.796). One-way ANOVA showed no significant differences in balance abilities among the three sport categories. No significant differences were found among the three groups for SST (p = 0.915), BST (p = 0.485), JMBT (p = 0.415), and SEBT (p = 0.463). These results suggest no significant differences in balance abilities among the athletes studied. Further research is needed to explore balance abilities across different sports and their relationship to motor skill performance.
