Traffic safety evaluation of school zones is crucial for ensuring the safety of students, teachers, and other individuals who frequent these areas. The high volume of vehicular and pedestrian traffic during school hours, school zones are prone to accidents and other traffic-related incidents. A thorough evaluation of the traffic safety measures in place, including signage, traffic signals, crosswalks, and speed limits, can identify areas of improvement and help prevent accidents. Moreover, a comprehensive evaluation of the traffic patterns and behavior in and around school zones can help local authorities develop effective strategies to mitigate traffic risks and promote safer driving habits. Investing in the evaluation and enhancement of traffic safety in school zones is crucial to ensuring a secure and supportive learning environment for students and teachers. This study utilizes microsimulation, a computational method that intricately models traffic flow and behavior, to assess the safety of school zones.
