Effect of Geotextile Layers on the Pull-Out Capacity of a Belled Anchor with Tie Embedded in Sand: A Numerical Study
摘要
A belled anchor with geotextile ties with single and multiple layers was examined using a numerical simulation to determine the effect of geotextile ties on the pull-out capability of the belled anchor within the sand. Four different belled anchors with varying bell diameters attached with geotextile ties in single as well as multilayers have been analysed with the help of FEM software ABAQUS. The embedding medium has been taken as Ennore sand with varying relative densities to study the characteristics of the anchor. For optimizing the boundary and meshing criteria of the geometric model, mesh convergence study as well as sensitivity analysis have been performed in the numerical study. To evaluate the engineering properties of Ennore sand, various experiments have been done. To validate the numerical results, an experimental study also has been carried out. From the numerical analysis, the optimizing number of the geotextile layers has been found to be 3.
