A wideband circular ring-shaped microstrip patch antenna is proposed in this paper for Ku-band applications. The overall dimension of the proposed antenna is 25 mm × 20 mm × 2 mm and is designed on commercial FR4 epoxy substrate. The antenna is fed using coaxial feed which also helps in providing better impedance matching, resulting in better bandwidth. The operating impedance bandwidth shown by the proposed antenna is 4.33 GHz (12.03–16.36 GHz), and VSWR value is less than 2 in the whole operating band. The peak gain is shown to be 7dBi at the resonant frequency. Return loss characteristics of the proposed antenna at different substrate heights and slot radii are also shown in the paper.
