A cochlear implant (CI) helps create the sensation of sound through electrical signals. Various parameters are measured and set to ensure the electrical patterns produced by the device correspond to sounds that help maximize speech intelligibility. MAP of a CI can be considered as the software program that codes the acoustic information in the environment to electrical codes that stimulate the auditory nerve. The primary goal of the MAP or the Cochlear Implant listening program includes providing optimal audibility and speech understanding as well as comfort even in complex listening environments. This chapter deals with objective measures such as electrically evoked compound action potential, electrically evoked stapedial reflex threshold, electrically evoked auditory brainstem response, and electrically evoked cortical potential used for the assessment of appropriateness of a MAP among cochlear implant users.
