Sustainable Development
摘要
Sustainable development emerged in response to increasingly intense conflicts between human society, economic development, resources, and the environment. While discussions about the relationship between humans and nature have a long history, this topic became especially prominent after the Industrial Revolution, due to the intensification of environmental problems. The United Nations (UN) officially introduced the concept of sustainable development in the 1980s. It encompasses three main characteristics: the efficient use of natural resources to maintain and promote a healthy ecological environment, economic development as a requirement, and the aim of comprehensive social progress.
