Much as elsewhere, the environment in Africa is shaped by natural events and human activities. That said, the colonization of Africa inflicted profound damage on indigenous societies and the environment and set in train forms of uneven development that persist to this day. With an accent on geography, this précis aims to promote understanding of the environment in Africa.
