Lake Chad is a biological hotspot and a source of food and water for millions of people in Central Africa. Lake Chad has shrunk by more than nine-tenths since the mid-1960s because of water diversion, population growth, and climate change. This précis considers the issues facing Lake Chad and tables a proposal to safeguard it.
