Eyelids: Benign and Malignant Lesions
摘要
The eyelids protect the eye, and by virtue of its layered structure, can be affected by several eyelid lesions. This chapter provides an overview of the anatomy and commonly encountered inflammatory, benign, and malignant lesions of the eyelids in ophthalmic practice. The etiopathogenesis, clinical presentation, genetic basis, common differential diagnosis, and its management are described in brief. The salient histopathological features including gross and microscopic findings, as well as the use of histochemical stains and immunohistochemistry for confirming the diagnosis have been highlighted wherever relevant.
