Experimental Investigations of LPG/H2 Flames in the 2 kW to 200 kW Range: Insights and Findings

India currently depends heavily on fuel imports, constituting nearly 80% of its fuel consumption, with significant implications for the economy. Rising energy demand, depletion of conventional fuel sources, and the need for cleaner energy have spurred interest in alternative fuels, with hydrogen emerging as a promising option for combustion applications. To facilitate its integration, research on fuel flexibility and retrofitting of burner systems is crucial, especially to meet government emission reduction targets. Hydrogen’s favorable properties offer potential for a greener future, but challenges like flashback must be addressed through burner adjustments. Blending hydrogen with LPG presents an optimized solution, though feasibility studies are needed due to differences in energy density. The primary objective is a smooth transition from LPG to hydrogen across various applications, investigated through a range of burner systems to understand the combustion behavior of LPG/H2 blends.
