Improving Soil Strength with Plastic Materials: A Study on California Bearing Ratio (CBR) Tests Using Advanced Techniques

This study explores the potential of using plastic materials to boost soil strength, mainly focusing on the California Bearing Ratio (CBR) test as a measure. With the growing problem of plastic waste and the urgent need for sustainable engineering solutions, this research explores into repurposing waste plastics for reinforcing soil. By incorporating the latest techniques in soil improvement, the study aims to address the pressing need for effective and eco-friendly strategies. Laboratory experiments involved mixing different sizes and amounts of plastic materials with soil samples. The CBR test was then used to assess how the inclusion of plastic affected soil strength and its ability to bear loads. Additionally, the study examined the use of soil stabilizers, and other innovative additives alongside plastics to enhance soil performance further. The results indicate promising advancements in soil strength and stability when plastic materials are included. Moreover, the study underscores the importance of leveraging cutting-edge techniques to maximize the effectiveness of plastic-based soil reinforcement methods. This research contributes to ongoing efforts in sustainable engineering practices, providing a feasible approach to tackle plastic waste while improving soil performance for various engineering needs.
