Diagnosis and Treatment of Epilepsy Syndromes
摘要
Epilepsy, seizures, and epileptic syndromes are the main subjects of epileptology. According to the International League Against Epilepsy, epilepsy syndromes refer to a group of epilepsies with characteristic clinical and electroencephalographic manifestations and typical etiologies (structural, genetic, metabolic, immune, or infectious). These features of epileptic syndromes can occur simultaneously, are often age-dependent (e.g., age at onset or age at resolution), and are often associated with specific coexisting conditions. The diagnosis of epilepsy syndromes may be highly important for determining patient prognosis and selecting treatment options [1, 2].
