Education is now digital enabling students to access the learning resources without being physically present at home. Use of digital devices and cloud-enabled tablets have made education more interesting to students, while promoting collaborative learning. Ed-tech refers to education technology, which leverages software and hardware to enhance teaching learning process. In the recent years, there have been many ed-tech organizations in India, each one of them offering a unique selling proposition to the student. The success of these ed-tech organizations depends on how frequently the Business Development Associate (BDA) is able to convert an opportunity into sales. Each of these organizations market their products well making right use of the skills of the BDAs, making the customers think and analyze before opting for the right product. When the skill set of the BDAs are not meeting the expectations of the ed-tech organizations, the morale of the BDA goes down which results in high attrition. This attrition can be minimized if the skill set of BDA is matched with the expectation of the company. The BDAs can make better decision in selecting an organization for employment, when they completely understand their expectations. This paper deals with the application of analytical hierarchical processing to determine weights for various skills of the BDAs and Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) to rank the ed-tech companies based on their perspective to each of the identified skills. The results of this study will help the BDAs make an informed decision about their employability and sustenance in the ed-tech companies. When the BDAs join ed-tech company for employment, it becomes pivotal for the organization to train the new recruits and retain them for a long time. An ed-tech company which has high attrition rate of the BDAs is considered for the study. Regression analysis is carried out to establish the relationship between retention of BDAs and their work performance parameters. Based on the regression analysis, strategies to retain the BDAs are also suggested.
