Based on the discussions in the foregoing chapters, Part V considers the history of Germany’s globalism and regionalism and the development of German capitalism and enterprises. Globalism means the principle, norm, and ism of setting the institutional framework and rules for acquiring global hegemony in building the world order. This chapter examines Germany’s globalism and regionalism, which are deeply related to the development of German capitalism and enterprises from the late nineteenth century to the present, from a historical viewpoint. Regarding the period until the end of World War II, this chapter considers the three periods of the Second Reich, the Weimar Republic, and National Socialism. Next, the period of the Cold War after World War II is considered. Furthermore, this chapter explores the period after the 1990s to the present, when globalization and regionalization have progressed at full scale. Through these analyses, this chapter clarifies the characteristics and significance of Germany’s global strategy in the international circumstances in each period.
