This chapter examines different factors influencing rural women’s participation in decision-making within their family farming, specifically regarding agricultural activities. In this study, participation in decision-making is interpreted through the lens of power relations, a foundational concept in understanding empowerment. This approach allows for an in-depth exploration of the degree and characteristics of rural women’s involvement in agriculture, particularly in terms of their input and influence on family-level agricultural decisions. Furthermore, this framework sheds light on the scope and nature of women’s decision-making roles, illustrating how their participation contributes to feelings of empowerment.
