Measuring City Bus Accessibility Levels Using PTAL Approach: A Case of Indore
摘要
This paper presents the findings of the PTAL approach in measuring the public transport accessibility levels in Indore for the planning boundary. Leveraging insights from the established methodology used in the case of London, we demonstrate the importance of contextual adaptation to capture the unique characteristics of rapidly evolving cities like Indore. Linkages between the population and the public transport system can be helpful in decision-making regarding improving the service and distribution of routes. According to the PTAL mapping, areas with high accessibility include Rajwada, which is centrally located in the city, as well as Agrasen Square, Old Agarwal Nagar, IT Park Square, Choithram Mandi, Vijay Nagar, Malwa Mill, Shivaji Nagar, and Bhawarkua. Areas such as Rau, Sanwer Industrial Area, Malhar Ganj, the neighbourhood surrounding IIT Indore, and the area around the Airport are identified as having poor accessibility. The paper concludes by highlighting the importance of PTAL mapping in macro and micro decision-making .
