The purpose of the single plunger type solenoid actuator is to control the movable sheave of the secondary pulley, which ensures that the vehicle driveline has the proper gear ratio. A coil is used in the solenoid actuator to generate an electromagnetic field when current is supplied on it. The solenoid actuator uses PWM signals to reduce power consumption, and temperature rises with a maximum current supply for gear ratio 2.6 and a minimum for gear ratio 1.2. Both with and without an intelligent controller, the full-scale EMA has been parametrically studied to actuate the CVT system of a passenger car. The electromagnetic force, the iron core’s absolute permeability of approximately 80 × 10-3N/A2, the number of turns (163), the effective area (625.15 mm2), and the gap (5 mm) were the EMA characteristics that were noted.
