EVs with a single speed and two speed transmissions are available on the market. Although a multi-speed transmission can increase an electric vehicle's traction performance, it also adds weight, expense, and efficiency. But when the EV is driven on a mountainous road, the two-speed gearbox that is available on the market with two DC motors causes slower gear shifts, which interrupts the power supply.
