This autoethnographic study delves into personal experiences from February to May 2023, navigating professional aspirations amidst institutional challenges. As an Assistant Professor of Communication, I encountered a conflict between my expertise in literature and institutional obligations, prompting a transition to a different academic setting in West India. This move, however, exposed undisclosed adverse working conditions, leading to an abrupt resignation and subsequent emotional and financial repercussions. Deploying Memory Reconsolidation Theory as a conceptual framework, this inquiry aims to meticulously explore the cognitive and emotional dimensions of the experienced trauma. Through a methodical examination of personal reactions and subsequent decisions, this study explores the nuanced interrelations between individual responses and institutional dynamics. This research contributes to understanding of human vulnerabilities within the context of organizational constraints, shedding light on the complexities of internal disruptions caused by external influences.
