The emergence of modern Crowdfunding (CF) facilitated by technological innovations has disrupted traditional financing mechanisms. This has attracted academic interest in CF research, which is still nascent. Although CF modes can act as a potential facilitator of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), extant research does not directly address this aspect. Our bibliometric study therefore aims to explore how CF research is interlinked with SDGs, by exploring current publications and citation trends and counts, co-authorship clusters among both authors and countries, and finally, research focus using co-occurrence analysis. The findings reveal a steady rise in CF research, particularly after 2016, driven by advancements in FinTech and ICTs. Key themes include financial inclusion, social entrepreneurship, and sustainable development, aligning with SDGs 1, 2, and 8. Despite the growth, research shows fragmented citation patterns, highlighting the need for theoretical integration and longitudinal studies to harness CF's potential for sustainable development.
