In the era of Industry 4.0, the IOT (Internet of things) system is a prime constituent of various production systems for making the system sustainable as well as reliable. To overcome any malfunction in the IOT system working under an uncertain environment, appropriate failure data is required for fault diagnosis as well as to set up maintenance policy. Meanwhile, due to unavailability and insufficient failure data, this task becomes very laborious and erratic. This paper aimed to set up fuzzy fault tree analysis (FFTA) using experts’ judgment for reliability enumeration. Based on the obtained results, reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) analysis has been applied for adaptation of proper maintenance policy. An IOT-based weight data communication system has been considered as a case study.
