This chapter provides a summary of the previous chapters, and provides a contrast to the findings found in each chapter, from a comparative perspective. What this volume attempts to do is present differing geographies of urban redevelopment and gentrification, that vary by geographical and global context. Cities as economic engines are discussed in the context of redevelopment as well. Summary discussion of five key trends that will impact future urban redevelopment and gentrification are analyzed. They include the forces of technological innovation, climate change, legal and illegal immigration, urbanization and the increasing commodification of housing. Countermeasures to confront growing global redevelopment and gentrification in both the Global North and Global South are provided. A summary discussion of the study’s findings, with focus on qui amisit, or who loses in twenty first century redevelopment and neighborhood gentrification, in comparative contexts, concludes the volume.
