In this book, we have taken a preliminary look at the historical factors which contributed to the emergence and development of the Study Abroad Movement in the last 150 years, as well as the major development phases, and their individual distinctive characteristics. We looked at the great contributions made by those who received their educations overseas, to the major educational reforms in China’s modern history and the development of higher education before and after the turn of the twentieth century.
