Professional Physical Education teachers must have four competencies, namely pedagogic competence, personal competence, professional competence, and social competence. The main task of PE teachers is to plan the lessons, carry out learning, and assess learning processes and outcomes. Lesson planning in particular is part of pedagogic competence, and this must be made systematically, but in reality, Physical Education teachers have not done what they should to lead to innovative learning. This study aims to determine the competence of Physical Education teachers of High Schools and Vocational High Schools of Ma’arif throughout the Special Region of Yogyakarta in planning innovative learning. The research method used was a survey method with a Google form to determine the competence of Physical Education teachers. The study population consisted of 30 Physical Education teachers from Ma'arif High School and Vocational High School in Yogyakarta's Special Region who were to be used for research. However, after conducting a survey, only 13 teachers agreed to participate in the study. The instrument used is a standard instrument used in Teacher Professional Education activities, which is the instrument for evaluating lesson plans. Data analysis used quantitative descriptive analysis, namely assessing the teachers’ lesson plans with the instrument. The result of the competence of the physical education teachers of High School and Vocational High School of Ma’arif in the Special Region of Yogyakarta showed that in planning innovative learning 39% or 7 of teachers in the very good category and 61,1% or 11 teachers in the good category.
