Analyzing the HRM Implications of Industry 4.0 in Cladding Technologies: A Systematic Literature Review

The advent of Industry 4.0 has ushered in a transformative era for various sectors, including construction, with cladding technologies standing at the forefront of this evolution. This systematic literature review endeavors to elucidate the human resource management (HRM) implications of Industry 4.0 in the domain of cladding technologies, an area that is pivotal yet relatively under-explored. Paramount findings had underscored the rising premium on digital competencies, the nuanced dynamics of job displacement and creation, the imperative of bolstered safety measures, and the continual emphasis on sustainable practices within the construction milieu. Drawing upon an extensive array of academic databases, industry reports, and empirical studies, this paper delves into the multifaceted impact of smart automation, cyber-physical systems, and the Internet of Things on the workforce and workplace practices. The study examines the shift in skill requirements and the strategies for workforce development, as well as the strategic alignment of HRM with emergent technological paradigms to maintain competitiveness and foster innovation. Additionally, the paper investigates the ethical and safety considerations that accompany the implementation of advanced cladding techniques, including robotics and artificial intelligence. The synthesis of the literature reveals a critical demand for strategic HRM interventions to navigate the challenges and capitalize on the opportunities presented by Industry 4.0. This review not only contributes to academic discourse but also serves as a strategic blueprint for practitioners in the construction industry, particularly within the HR sphere, aiming to optimize human-technology synergies in the age of digital transformation.
