The “vehicle–battery separation” model plays a significant role in fostering a green energy ecosystem. It helps reduce vehicle purchase costs for users, alleviates range and charging anxiety, and extends the battery degradation cycle. In recent years, China has seen growing policy support for the battery swapping model, alongside continuous technological advancements. As a result, both the number of battery-swappable vehicles and the deployment of battery swapping stations have increased rapidly. This model is being quickly adopted in commercial scenarios involving private passenger vehicles and heavy-duty trucks. This chapter analyzes data related to battery-swappable vehicles, reviews relevant industry policies, tracks the promotion of battery-swappable vehicle fleets, and examines operational and usage characteristics. It summarizes the current development achievements and emerging trends of the battery swapping model in China, and offers recommendations for the next stage of industry development.

Battery-Swapping Battery Electric Vehicles

摘要
