Imaging of Gonadal and Extragonadal Pelvic Tumors
摘要
Pelvic neoplasms in children can be broadly divided into gonadal and extragonadal tumors. Gonadal tumors, namely ovarian and testicular neoplasms, are predominantly germ cell tumors or less commonly sex cord stromal tumors. Extragonadal pelvic neoplasms include neoplasms occurring in the uterus, urinary bladder and prostate which are predominantly rhabdomyosarcomas (RMS). Imaging plays an important role in the diagnostic work-up. Ultrasound is usually the initial investigation of choice. A cross-sectional imaging like CT/ PET-CT or MRI is performed if a neoplasm is suspected on ultrasound. This chapter discusses about the clinical features, diagnostic work-up, imaging features and guidelines related to gonadal and extragonadal pediatric pelvic tumors.
