The cableKites system introduces an innovative approach to tidal energy generation by adapting cableway technology, traditionally used in alpine environments. Designed to address the limitations of conventional tidal energy converters (TECs) in low-flow conditions, the system employs hydrofoil-shaped kites attached to a continuous cable loop to harness the kinetic energy of tidal currents for electricity generation. Leveraging proven ropeway design principles, the system minimizes development and maintenance costs while ensuring scalability and adaptability for diverse marine environments. Operating within the water column, the system reduces ecological disruption, offering a sustainable solution for expanding renewable energy capacity in underutilized tidal regions. A prototype, scheduled for testing in a controlled water channel near Munich in 2025, will validate its feasibility, with findings guiding future scaling to larger installations. By combining low environmental impact, cost-effectiveness, and modular design, the cableKites system demonstrates significant potential to diversify renewable energy portfolios and contribute to global climate goals.

摘要
