Family as a Producer of Moral and Social Capital
摘要
This chapter explores how the family has been a source of moral and social capital in the three Pakistani communities. The findings from the primary research about family dynamics within the three communities are analyzed and discussed with the help of relevant literature. Family norms, particularly related to the role of women, matrimonial dynamics, and the nurturing environment that emerges for the children due to relational dynamics within the family, are some of the focus points of this chapter. The data also revealed some of the factors that were responsible for the weakening of the family within the three communities, which are analyzed in light of the extant literature to describe the required family environment for the sake of intergenerational sustainability of a family’s moral and social capital.
