Socioeconomic and Ideological Particularities of Enterprising Communities
摘要
This chapter utilizes the conceptual framework established in previous chapters to provide a brief overview of the socioeconomic characteristics of various enterprising communities around the world where a balance between the social and the economic apparently exists. It also includes specific details about three Pakistani communities, as the findings from these communities are central to the key arguments presented in this volume. The chapter uses actual examples from both history and contemporary times to demonstrate how economic activity is often rooted in social character. This social character, it is shown, is influenced by the unique beliefs and moral values that each community holds sacred, which in turn helps to sustain the community’s resilience during challenging periods. The latter part of the chapter offers a greater description of the nature of the social and economic relationships prevailing within the Pakistani communities in question, and how their members help each other in difficult times.
