Structural health monitoring (SHM) is a system designed to detect alterations in the behavior of structures due to environmental influences. SHM systems are realized by installing sensors in structures and obtaining data from these sensors. In this case, it is necessary to determine on the number and position of the sensors to be placed in the structures. The quantity of sensors is crucial for accurately obtaining the modal parameters of the structures. In the same way, the location of the sensors is important for the quality of the data obtained from the sensors. These two factors greatly affect the efficiency and reliability of SHM systems and raise the issue of optimum sensor placement (OSP). In this study, a computer program in MATLAB programming language that works with SAP2000 Open Application Programming Interface (OAPI) and arithmetic optimization algorithm (AOA) has been developed for solving OSP problems. Using this computer program, it is aimed to determine the optimum number of sensors and their locations for space truss bridges. The results indicate that this computer program can be used to select the number of sensors without requiring any experience. It also shows that optimal sensor locations can be obtained with minimum computational load thanks to AOA.

摘要
